OMAHA PUBLIC SCHOOLS - WE ARE "DIGGING" THIS PROJECT!
A part of the Omaha Public Schools $421 million dollar capital facility bond program includes fire, life safety & security and technology upgrades to older schools in the district. Roloff Building Group has enjoyed getting our boots dirty on the $2.9 million dollar improvements (combined) to Benson West and Adams elementary schools.
Both schools needed storm shelters. At Adams Elementary the storm shelter space was designed as an ICF addition to the existing building. At Benson West Elementary, the shelter space was achieved through excavating beneath the existing school structure – turning an existing crawlspace into a full-height shelter space.

Besides the shelter spaces, Roloff Building Group and its subcontractors are constructing ingress and egress stairwells, installing new fire suppression systems and replacing all emergency/security doors and door hardware.
Roloff Building Group took advantage of the mild late fall weather in 2016 and got a two month head start on the project which turned out to be a huge advantage as the excavation and footing work was able to be completed allowing for the shelter spaces to go up (and down!) before the major cold snap. Another advantage to reaching this stage earlier was being able to work extended hours over the holiday break, thus lessening the disruption to students and faculty. By the time the cold weather really set-in, we were already under cover and able to keep working on interior construction. This job continues to proceed ahead of schedule!
